Description
The Manor House is a manor house dating from the early 17th century, with some alterations around 1700 and further remodelling in the mid-18th century. There are 19th-century and later additions to the north and east. The building features English bond brickwork with ashlar dressings and has tiled roofs with end brick stacks. It is designed in a T-plan and consists of two storeys and attics.
The south front has four bays, showcasing two and four-light mullioned windows that have gauged brick heads with projecting bricks to simulate keystones. There is a first-floor plat band, and the second bay from the right features a wooden porch with Tuscan pilasters and an elliptical archway. To the left, the gable of the southwest cross-wing displays three and four-light stone mullioned windows with returned labels, along with a French window on the ground floor. The symmetrical southwest front has three bays, also with two and four-light stone mullioned windows with returned labels.
Inside, the drawing room boasts an enriched 18th-century panelled plaster ceiling, bolection-moulded wall panelling, and a fireplace with panelled pilasters. The staircase walls are adorned with rich plasterwork, and the 18th-century staircase features open strings and turned balusters in a vase and Tuscan column pattern. The dining room includes an enriched plaster cornice, alongside various 17th and 18th-century fireplaces and 17th-century oak panelling.
