Description

Chapel Marsh Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating to the late 17th century. It is constructed of lias stone and rubble walls with banding, and has a wooden shingle roof with stone gable copings. Brick stacks are located at both left and right hand gables. The farmhouse is two storeys high with three windows: these are mullion windows with three and four lights, contained within stone frames. There is a plank front door with two glass lights, set beneath a large wooden lintel. An attic window in the east gable is a two-light stone mullion. A continuous outshut extends along the rear of the property, also dating to the 17th century and featuring stone gable copings. This outshut includes a Cheese Room. Inside, a plank-and-muntin partition exists on both sides of the entrance hall, thought to be from around the 17th century. A fireplace is present with a large Ham stone lintel featuring a plain, chamfered Tudor arch. The interior also has mid-chamfered beams with filleted stops.
