Description

Cliff Cottage is an 18th-century long cottage, originally comprising three dwellings. It is constructed of stone walls, now rendered, and has a thatched roof with gable ends. Four brick stacks are visible, one at the left-hand gable, one to the left of centre, one to the right of centre, and one at the right-hand gable. The cottage has two storeys and five windows, featuring wooden casements with glazing bars, some of which are two-light windows. A single leaded light window remains on the upper floor. The front door, situated to the right of centre, is wooden with flush and recessed panelling, dating to the 19th century. A rendered gabled porch was added in the 20th century and now supports two slate sundials, one inscribed with the date 1768 and the other 1897. Inside, the cottage features flagstone floors. A central drawing room extends to the ceiling and incorporates a gallery-corridor dating from around 1900. The fireplaces have brick jambs and are of 18th-century origin.
