Description
Broomhills is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with heightening added in the 18th century. It features rubble-stone walls that have been heightened with brick. The roof is thatched, with a gable end on the left side and a half-hip on the right side. There are two renewed brick stacks, one at the left gable and the other at the right end of the dwelling. The house has one and a half storeys and four windows, which include two and three light wooden casements; the upper windows have glazing bars while the lower ones have wooden lintels. The front door is roughly at the center of the dwelling and is a plank door with a wood frame, accompanied by a 20th-century porch that has glass sides. The north end bay was formerly used as a dairy. Inside, there is a fireplace lintel with run-out stops and brick jambs from the 18th century, along with a plank and muntin partition featuring wide muntins from the 17th century. The ceiling beams are mid-chamfered with stops that are not visible.
