Description
The British Legion Hall, which includes a wall in front, was opened on 16 March 1876 as the Foresters' Hall. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and is a single storey building. The west end features a gable that is coped on kneelers and topped with an ornamental finial, along with two tiers of crow-steps on each side. The façade has two sash windows set in pointed arches with chamfered reveals. The entrance is located in a porch that has chamfered reveals and is topped by a stone gabled hood supported by cut stone brackets. There is an ornamental stone fascia and an oculus with eight inscribed circles, which is adorned with a pointed arched hoodmould above. The gable end displays three trefoils. In front of the hall, there is a red brick wall with ashlar piers and coping.
