Description
Guildhall Cottage, located on Church Street, is likely contemporary to The Guildhall and dates from the 18th century. This two-storey building features a slate hipped roof. The upper floor is roughcast, while the lower floor is finished in painted brick.
On the left side, the first bay has a four-light window arranged in two tiers above a wide passageway on the ground floor. The second bay contains round-headed moulded doorways with pilasters, a half-glazed door featuring a radiating glazing pattern, and a fascia and cornice that extend south across a large four-light splayed bay window on both floors in the third bay. At the right end, there is a two-light wood casement with small panes on the first floor, along with a square-headed moulded doorway with a keystone below.
Guildhall Cottage, along with Nos 60 to 62, forms a group with The Guildhall, and it is also grouped with the Museum, Nos 4, 4A, 5, and 6 on Bridge Street, as well as Nos 42 to 45 and No 47 on Coombe Street.
