Description
12 and 13 King Street are a pair of attached houses built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of Flemish bond brick, with No. 12 being rendered. The houses have a parapeted slate roof and a double-depth plan, rising three storeys high. The front facing King Street features a two-window layout, with a semicircular-arched doorway to No. 12 and a late 20th-century window inserted above it. The ground floor of No. 12 has a late 20th-century window in the original opening, while No. 13 has a mid 19th-century shop front with pilasters supporting the fascia and a blocked doorway on the right. On the first floor, there are two bowed oriel windows with 8/12/8 sashes and dentilled cornices. The upper floor has gauged brick flat arches over horned late 19th-century sashes. A moulded cornice continues to the right-hand elevation facing Upway Street, which features similar arches over mid to late 19th-century sashes and a semicircular-arched doorway with a plain fanlight. The interior has not been inspected. These houses are part of a group with Nos. 14 and 15 King Street.
