Description
Heddle House is a house and shop that is now a private residence. It likely dates from the 18th century and was remodeled in the early 20th century. The building is constructed of rubble and flint with brick dressings, and features timber-framing with herringbone brick nogging. It has hipped and half-hipped tiled roofs and consists of two attached ranges. The timbered shop front is located at the angle between the two ranges and includes elliptical-headed windows with leaded-lights above. The house has a jettied end with an oriel window supported by brackets. The shop range features an elliptical-headed doorway in the end wall, flanked by two round-headed windows. There is also a wrought iron lamp bracket that has provisions for hanging a shop sign. This is an unusual and high-quality early 20th-century shop.
