Description
Apple Tree, Yew Tree, and Sunny Holm are a row of three cottages built in 1878. They feature stretcher bond brickwork with ashlar bands and dressings. The cottages have half-hipped tiled roofs adorned with ornamental ridge tiles. Each has brick stacks with polygonal brick shafts and stone capping. The design is a balanced, asymmetric composition with shallow projecting wings on the right and left. They are one and a half storeys tall with irregular window arrangements. The windows have segmental pointed stone arches and consist of two and three-light casements with horizontal glazing bars. The part-glazed doors are set under porches created by the continuation of the roof, and the cottages are finished with ornamental barge boards. This row appears to be an early example of cavity-wall brick construction and is considered the best example of similar cottages in the village.
