Description
Noel Cottage is a mid 18th century cottage with an early 20th century southern extension. The original cottage is built of blue brick in header bond, featuring lighter brick dressings. The extension is half-timbered with brick noggin infill above a flint base. It has a thatched roof with brick stacks at both ends of the original range. The building is two storeys high, with the original cottage having a two-window range. The original range features two-light casements with horizontal glazing bars, while the addition has wrought-iron casements with leaded lights. A first-floor oriel window projects over the churchyard, and the central door of the original range is made of planks within a timber porch. Above the door is a blind window that contains an insurance plaque. The extension reflects the typical style of estate buildings from the period when James Ismay owned the village.
