Description
West Holme House is a detached house dating from the late 17th to early 18th century. A terra-cotta plaque on the porch is dated 1692, though this is unconfirmed. The house is constructed of brick with a tiled roof, stone eaves courses, and coped gables. Brick end stacks are also present. The house is two storeys high. A two-storied porch with a hipped roof features a round-arched doorway, above which is a double-hung sash window with glazing bars. The ground and first floors each have three similar windows. Modern lean-tos have been added to the rear, featuring plastered walls and tiled roofs. Internally, a west ground floor room contains two large open fireplaces with timber lintels, indicating that it originally comprised two rooms. The east room contains an 18th-century carved wood fireplace surround. A brick boundary wall runs along the front, with square gate piers having stone caps.
