Description
4 and 5 William Street are a pair of houses located at the end of a row in Weymouth, dating from the early 19th century. They are constructed of stucco with a slate roof, featuring two storeys and an attic, with each house having one window. The windows are 16-pane sashes set in moulded flush boxes. To the right of each house, there is an arched opening with plain deep reveals and plain fanlights above a 20th-century door. The houses have a small plinth that meets the pavement, a continuous moulded cornice, blocking, and parapet coping. Each house has a large brick ridge stack on the left party wall, and the roof of No. 4 is at a lower pitch than that of No. 5. There is a plain return with one attic window to the right, facing Victoria Street, and each house has a deep, narrow rear wing. No. 4 features a large dormer, and both houses have 4-pane sashes at the rear. The interior has not been inspected. This modest pair of houses retains an unspoiled frontage and the original overall form.
