Description
Cooper's Stores is a building located on West Street in Corfe Castle, with origins dating back to the 17th century, specifically marked with the date 1601 over the door. The structure has undergone alterations in the 18th and 19th centuries. It features rubble stone walls up to the first floor, with pebble dash above, and has a slate roof with a brick stack at the right end. The building is two storeys high.
On the left end, there is a part-glazed 20th-century door set in an ashlar surround, above which is a carved medieval quatrefoil plaque with the date 1601. The right end has a 20th-century part-glazed shop door, along with a bow shop window and a small flat shop window, both fitted with glazing bars. The first floor includes two 20th-century casements with lead lights.
To the right of the main building, there is an attached former outbuilding that is now part of the shop. This outbuilding has a gable end facing the road and is one storey with an attic, featuring a bow shop window and a plain casement above.
