Description

This is a group of three traditional Purbeck cottages located on Jubilee Road: Forget-me-Not Cottage (No. 37), The Nook (No. 39), and Rose Cottage (No. 41). They are likely to have been originally built for quarrymen.

No. 37, probably dating from the 18th century, has walls of Purbeck stone, which are colourwashed, and a Purbeck stone roof. It has a stone stack and is two storeys high, with a door and two casement windows on the ground floor, and two casement windows on the first floor.

No. 39, likely dating from the late 17th century, has walls and a roof of Purbeck stone. It is a single storey with an attic, and features casement windows. A ground floor fireplace with a bread oven is present.

No. 41, probably dating from the late 18th century, has walls of Purbeck stone and brick stacks. It is two storeys high. The ground floor features a rendered porch and a part-glazed door, and there are two casement windows on each storey. A Purbeck stone boundary wall runs along the road. The rear entrance to No. 37 includes gate piers and cast iron bollards from London. The cottages form a picturesque group.
