4/126 Ruins of former manor house (formerly listed as "The 18.3.55 Remains of Abbey Buildings together with Pigeon House approximately 75 yards to west")

Ruins of former manor house. C13 origin. Flint and rubble walls with ashlar dressings and some brick patching. The front wall, and fragments of the side and rear walls only survive. Originally of 2 storeys, with solar on left and hall on right, both at first floor level, on undercrofts. Large archway right of centre, with brick segmental arch, and brick patching over. One original and 2 added buttresses. On first floor of hall, remains of 2 lancets. Remains of larger window in solar. In hall undercroft, one rectangular window opening. At rear of solar block, small section of wall standing, with remains of window at upper level. In poor repair. Scheduled Ancient Monument. No. M.136 (R.C.H.M. Monument 2. Dorset Vol V). Note: The Pigeon House. Ref 15/8 included in the original listing description, has been demolished).
