Description
This fountain, located 18 meters south-west of Nos. 1 and 2 Brook Cottages in Witchampton, is likely from the 18th century. It is constructed from flint with brick dressings. The fountain features a rectangular pit surrounded by a brick curb, with timber posts and iron chains. Three steps lead down from the road to the water level. At the back, above the spring, there is a flint wall with a shaped top in Flemish style, which includes a projecting brick arch with remains of a flint corbel above it. To the left, there is a projecting wing wall with an ogee profile and brick coping. This fountain is one of the original water sources for the village and is considered picturesque.
