Description
No. 37 St Thomas Street is a house with a shop, built in the early 19th century. It features painted Flemish bond brickwork and a slate mansard roof. The building has two storeys, an attic, and a basement. Above a large 8:12:8-pane bow oriel with a dentil cornice, there are two 4-pane sash gabled dormers. The shop front, which is from the 20th century, is centered beneath the oriel and retains parts of an earlier dentil cornice. To the right, set back on four steps, is a 20th-century door. The floor level aligns with that of the adjacent No. 36, likely indicating a basement below. The building also has a moulded cornice and a stack on the left. The interior has not been inspected. Although No. 37 is viewed as part of a pair with No. 36, there is a straight joint in the brickwork between the two, and the oriel of No. 37 projects more boldly.
