Description
The Old Thatch is a detached cottage dating from the mid-18th century, located at right angles to Back Lane in Evershot. The building features rubble-stone walls, with the west elevation constructed of brick in Flemish bond and a rubble-stone base. There is a cellar beneath the cottage. It has two sash windows with glazing bars and a thatched roof with gable ends. The right-hand gable has stone gable coping, and there is an 18th-century brick chimney stack at the south gable. The cottage is two storeys high with a basement and includes two windows that are 2-light wood casements with glazing bars and wooden cills. The front door, located at the right-hand end of the east elevation, is a plank door with one glass light, dating from the 19th century. An outhouse at the north end is built of rubble-stone and has a pentice-slate roof, with a plank door featuring a cambered brick arch above.
