Description
The dovecote, located 10 metres south of Mapperton House, dates back to 1665, as indicated by the initials "R.B." on the door lintel. It features rubble-stone walls with stone quoins and a slate roof, complemented by stone gable-copings and moulded apex-blocks. The structure is rectangular in shape, with a doorway in the centre of the north wall that has straight-chamfered jambs and a very depressed-arch head. Each gable has a small single light that serves as a louvre. Inside, there are approximately 300 pigeon-holes.
