Description

No 2 South Street is a mid-18th century building constructed of red brick, featuring a yellow brick string course, eaves cornice, quoins, and dressings. It has a mansard tile roof with stone slates above the eaves. The building stands two storeys high with attics and includes two ranges of flush-framed sash windows with glazing bars. There is a contemporary bow shop window with glazing bars supported by an ornamental iron bracket, flanked by a stable door that has four fielded panels and an oblong fanlight. The entrance is accented with fluted pilasters and a flat moulded hood. Additionally, there is one attic dormer with tile-hung cheeks and modern casements. This property is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 10 (even), The Unitarian Chapel, Nos 12 to 32 (even), and Holy Trinity Gallery.
