Description

Battlecombe is an early 19th-century house with alterations made in the mid-19th century. The front elevation is of colour-washed brick with the west side clad in slate. The rear is of ashlar construction. The roof is slate, with coped stone gable ends. The house is two storeys high. It has three ranges of sash windows with glazing bars. A door, set beneath a fanlight and moulded archivolt, is sheltered by a trellis porch with a peaked roof. The rear of the house features mullioned windows and a two-storey projecting porch block. This porch block has a canted lower section topped by a gable supported by moulded squinches, designed to resemble those found at Winterbourne Cleinston Manor.
