Description

No. 5 Market Street is an attached cottage that forms part of a row of buildings. It is dated 1785, as indicated above the front door in a round-arch framing with the initials I:R S:R. The cottage features coursed rubble-stone walls and has a slate roof with boxed eaves. There are brick stacks located at the left-hand ridge and the right-hand party wall. The building is two storeys tall and has two windows, which are three-light wooden casements with glazing bars and wooden cills. The stone voussoirs above the windows are made of grey limestone, with the ground floor windows featuring this stone. The central entrance has a plank door with weatherboarding, which dates from the 19th century.
