Description

Manor Farm House is a small manor house dating from the early 17th century, likely built for Arthur Radford. A rear wing was added in the 19th century. The house is constructed of flint with stone banding, and has a slate roof with parapets and moulded coped gables. Brick and stone chimney stacks rise from the roof. It has a double pile plan, meaning it is two rooms deep. The front elevation features twin gables of unequal pitch, each topped with a chimney stack, one brick and the other stone. A central entrance has a flush panel door set beneath a depressed four-centred arch. The ground and first floors are each pierced by four stone mullioned and transomed windows, each with a hoodmould. Single, matching two-light windows are set into each attic gable. A 19th-century rear wing is built of flint and brick banding with a slate roof. A single-storey wing is attached to the left of this, built in similar materials. Internally, a 17th-century staircase features heavy turned balusters. Several rooms retain 17th-century oak panelling, some with enriched friezes and fireplace surrounds. Original 17th-century oak panelled doors are also present.
