Description
Hammer Hill is a detached cottage with an attached former outbuilding, likely built in the 18th century. It features plastered cob walls and a half-hipped thatched roof, with brick stacks in each wing. The building has an L-shaped plan with a rounded external angle and consists of one storey and an attic.
On the south end wall of the south wing, the ground floor includes a canted bay window topped with a hipped tiled roof, featuring sashes with glazing bars in the upper panes. Above this, in the attic, there is another sash window with glazing bars. A ledged door is located at the rear, near the external angle. The east wall of the south wing has a half dormer in the attic with sashes that also have glazing bars. Most of the other windows are from the 20th century and include glazing bars.
At the east end of the east wing, there is an attached single-storey range with a mono-pitch pantile roof, which was a former outbuilding now incorporated into the house. The property was under repair and alteration at the time of the survey in May 1986.
