Description
Vines Down Buildings are farm buildings that likely date from the late 18th century. The main barn features brick walls with buttresses and a tiled roof that has stone eaves courses. It is a single-storey structure with slit window openings and large half-hipped cart porches. The roof structure is of the double collar beam type.
Attached to the southeast is a single-storey range with stone walls and brick dressings, topped with a slate roof. This part was originally an open shelter supported by timber posts but has since been infilled. A similar range on the northeast has recently been demolished. To the northeast of the main barn, there is a two-storey stable block constructed of flint walls with brick dressings and a half-hipped slate roof, featuring stable doors and metal windows. This building is an example of a post-Enclosure Down Barn.
