Description
Pear Tree House is a house from the 16th century that was remodeled in the 19th century. It features a combination of banded flint and rubble, with the upper floor made of banded brick and flint. The building has rubble quoins and a gable-ended thatched roof with brick stacks at each end. It is 1½ storeys tall and has a three-window range. The ground floor includes three-light casements with full glazing bars on the right and horizontal glazing bars on the left. The upper floor has two-light casements with glazing bars. There is a central door from the 20th century.
Inside, notable features include an open fireplace with a chamfered surround and a four-centred head made from reused altar-stone, which has five incised consecration crosses. There is an end newel stone stair accessed through a doorway with a four-centred head, and an upper doorway with a four-centred head and continuous jambs. The upper fireplace has a moulded four-centred head with carved initials in the spandrels, and the ceilings are adorned with deep chamfered intersecting beams.
