Description

Heathcote is a detached house dating from the early 19th century, although it may incorporate earlier structures at the rear. A date stone reading 1824 on the rear porch suggests a possible re-setting. The house is of plastered walls with a slate roof and parapet. The building has two plastered stacks, one at the left end and one on the front extension. It is two storeys and has an attic. A two-storied, flat-roofed extension fronts the building, with two sash windows with glazing bars on the ground floor. The return wall of the extension features a panelled door beneath a flat hood supported by shaped brackets, and single sash windows with glazing bars on each floor. The main block of the house has a three-light sash window with glazing bars on the ground floor, and two sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor. Two hipped dormers with glazing bars light the attic. A service range sits at the rear, at a lower level, appearing to have previously functioned as a separate cottage. This rear range is two storied with casement windows.
