Description
The Former Milton Abbas Primary School is a mid-19th century village school located in Milton Abbas. The building features lower walls made of brick with burnt headers, while the upper walls are constructed with flint and brick banding. It has a tiled roof with an ornamental ridge, and there are two brick stacks—one rising from the front eaves and the other on the ridge. Designed in the Gothic Revival style, the school is a single-storey structure.
At the left end, there is a wing adjoining a house that runs at right angles to the road, which includes a pointed-arched window with timber tracery. To the right of this wing, there is a lean-to with a ledged door set under a pointed arch. Further right, a wing runs parallel to the road and is set back from the main structure. This wing features a gabled porch at its right end, with a ledged door beneath a pointed arch. Additionally, there are two small two-light windows with timber tracery located under segmental brick arches, as well as one taller, part-dormered gabled window that has a three-light traceried window under a pointed arch. The overall design is picturesque.
