Description
The Old Rectory is a former rectory that has been converted into a private house. The building features an early 18th-century north wing and a later 18th-century main south range, which are positioned at right angles to each other. The north range has rendered walls, a slate roof, and a tall 18th-century brick stack that has been rebuilt. It is two storeys high with an attic and has three windows with wood casements that include glazing bars. There is a 20th-century metal French window towards the north end and a 19th-century plank door on the north end wall.
The south range has rendered brick walls and a plat band, with a brick eaves-cornice and a hipped clay tile roof. There is no stack on the south ridge, but there is a stack on the rear wall at the eaves. This range is also two storeys high with attics and features three sash windows with glazing bars, wood frames, and stone cills. The attic includes a three-light wood casement with glazing bars. The front door is centrally located and is a flush-panelled design with three upper lights, flanked by 18th-century Gothic clustered side-pilasters and an entablature with cusped arcading.
Inside, the north range at the north end contains an open fireplace with brick jambs and a chamfered wood lintel, along with a bread oven on the right side. In the south range, the front staircase features latticed banisters and a moulded handrail.
