Description
Nos. 1-4 Rodwell Street are four houses in a terrace of five, built in the early 19th century. They feature English bond brickwork, with some sections rendered, and have slate roofs. Each house is three storeys high and has one window per floor, all of which are sash windows. The first floor of each house includes a bow oriel window.
No. 1 has a four-pane window above a 4:6:4-pane bow with a dentilled cornice, along with a plain sash window and a 20th-century door with a segmental fanlight set in an arched opening at the ground floor. No. 2 is rendered and has a similar oriel window, but with replacement windows on the second and ground floors, and a four-panel door. No. 3 is constructed of brick and features plain sashes and a 4:6:4-pane oriel, along with a 20th-century door. No. 4 has replica sashes and a 20th-century door, but maintains a similar oriel window. No. 5, which was previously included, has been altered significantly and no longer holds interest. Each property has a moulded cornice with a blocking course and a party wall stack.
The interiors have not been inspected, but while each house has undergone some modifications, the overall appearance of the terrace remains largely intact.
