Description
There are five table tombs located in the churchyard, positioned 5 to 10 metres south of the parish church.
The first tomb, situated 5 yards south of the nave, is made of stone and features fluted angle-pilasters and a moulded table top. It commemorates Jacob Pitfield and his wife, who died in 1795 and 1819, respectively. The second tomb is also made of stone, with rough fluted angle pilasters and a concave-moulded top, dedicated to Charles Hitt, Surgeon, and his family, dating from the early 19th century. The third tomb has "Indianized" angle pilasters with a central roll and is dedicated to Robert Colmer, who died in 1819, along with Catherine and William. The fourth tomb features incised angle pilasters and capitals, with a cambered stone top, commemorating Thomas Hallett, who died in 1878. The fifth tomb, dating from the early 19th century, is overgrown with ivy and is located 5 yards south of the chancel.
