Description

The Muntings, including the first boundary wall, is a detached house dating from the late 16th to early 17th century. It features rubble stone walls and a thatched roof with coped gables and brick end stacks. The building is one storey with an attic and has a three-room and cross-passage layout. The entrance has a ledged door. To the left of the door, there is one casement window with a horizontal centre glazing bar and another casement window with glazing bars in a reduced opening. To the right of the door, there is a four-light timber mullioned window with lead lights. Inside, the right ground floor room has deep chamfered intersecting ceiling beams and a lintel over a large fireplace that has been built up. Between this room and the cross-passage, there is a heavy plank and muntin partition with a depressed straight-sided arched doorway. At the rear of the cross-passage, there is an original rear door frame of a similar design. An attached rear wing at the right end, dating from the later 17th to 18th century, has rubble stone walls and a double Roman tile roof. The property is complemented by a low front boundary wall made of rubble stone.
