Description

Naish Farmhouse is a house dating from the 15th century, with alterations and additions made in the 16th, 18th, and 19th centuries. It features rubble walls and a thatched roof, which is gable-ended to the right and hipped to the left. There is a brick stack on the right side and another partway along the left eaves. The building has two storeys and a three to four window range, with three and four-light casements that include horizontal glazing bars. The entrance is a part-glazed plain wooden door.

The internal layout consists of a three-room cross passage plan, created by inserting a stack into an open hall house. Notable internal features include a 15th-century north door made of elm planks with a two-centred head, a 15th-century timber partition with doorways leading to former service rooms, and a 15th-century doorway to the solar undercroft. There is a 16th-century partition and door separating the hall from the through passage. The hall contains deep chamfered beams and wall-plates that intersect, along with a first-floor fireplace featuring a chamfered four-centred wooden head and stop-chamfered stone jambs. The roof has six trusses, with the second and fifth from the south-west being framed as partition-trusses, while the others are jointed cruck trusses. The south-western truss is likely a later addition.
