Description

Purbeck House is a detached house, originally two cottages, situated in East Street, Corfe Castle. The left section of the house dates from the late 17th to early 18th century, while the right section is likely from the late 18th century. The left section has rubble stone walls with a stone slate roof and brick stacks at each end; one at the left and one at the right. It is one storey with an attic. The ground floor features a canted bay window with glazing bars and two casement windows with glazing bars, all set under segmental arches. The attic has two gabled dormers, each with casement windows incorporating glazing bars. One ground floor room contains a large open fireplace with a timber lintol. The right section has rubble stone walls, a slate roof, and a stone stack located at the rear of the ridge. It is two storeys high and includes a gabled porch with a stone slate roof and a ledged door. The ground floor has a 20th-century casement window with glazing bars under a segmental arch, and the first floor has two similar windows. Garage doors are situated at the right end.
