Description
The Old Vicarage, built in 1832, is located on Silver Street and was constructed as a pair with Burley. The building features a later higher roof on the main part and an additional one window bay and three storeys to the north. It has a hipped slate roof and a stuccoed front. The garden front, which faces east, is two storeys high with three window bays. It includes incised pilasters decorated with a Greek key motif, sash windows with glazing bars above, and French casements below. A verandah with trellised iron columns and a canopy is present on both the ground and first floors, with the main entrance located on the south front. The Old Vicarage is part of a group that includes The Little Place, the north-east boundary wall, Rosehill, the garden wall of Burley, the former stable block, the garden wall to Burley and the Old Vicarage, West Hill, the garden wall, the Roman Catholic Church of St Michael and St George, and the Dorset Hotel on Pound Road.
