Description

Down Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dated 1699, with a possibly earlier core. It features stone walls that are rendered and painted, and has a thatched roof with gable ends, along with a clay-tile roof at the right-hand end. The right-hand gable has gable-coping. The building is two storeys high with attics and has a total of four windows, which are 3-light wood casements with horizontal glazing bars, wood cills, and lintels. The front door is located to the right of centre, set in a moulded wood frame, and is a plank door with weatherboarding, dating from the 20th century. The gable-end outshuts are not of special interest. Although interior access was not obtained, the farmhouse likely has historic interest.
