Description
There are three table-tombs located south of the Parish Church in Broadwindsor, all dating from the 18th century. The first tomb is situated 5 metres south of the south aisle and is made of stone, featuring fielded-panel corners and a hipped top. It commemorates the Davy family, with recorded deaths from 1767 to 1842. The second tomb is 4 metres south of the south porch and is constructed from white stone, with corner shafts and curved, curtained side-panels. It is dedicated to William Reader, senior, who passed away on December 6, 1780, at the age of 53. The third tomb is located 10 metres south-west of the porch and is also made of stone with fielded panel corners, dating from the 18th century. The inscription on the stone is illegible, but there is a metal plaque on the end face that reads: "In memory of Mary, wife of Henry Symonds of Kimmeridge in the Isle of Purbeck who died, November 23, 1838, aged 46 years. In memory of the above Henry Symonds of Cannon Court, who died May 21, 1854, aged 64 years."
