Description
Gargoyles is a single cottage, originally two cottages, dating from the early 19th century. It has a gable end facing the lane and is constructed from lias stone with a bitumenized slate roof. There are brick stacks at both the left and right gables. The building stands two storeys high and features two windows with three-light wooden casements and wooden cills, topped with flush stone voussoirs. The front door, located to the right of centre on the west face, is wood panelled and dates from the 20th century. Notably, there are two stone busts holding plain shields that are built into the wall at first floor level, dating from around the 16th century.
