Description

Edgeley Cottage is a detached house that dates from the mid 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The building features walls made of lias stone and has a roof covered with plain and decorated tiles. The roof is hipped on the left side and has stone gable-coping on the right side. There are two brick stacks located on the left, set in from the hip apex at the right-hand gable. The house is two storeys high and has four windows, which are three-light stone mullions with hollow chamfers and iron casements. Continuous labels run over the ground floor windows and extend behind a later porch addition. The front door is positioned to the right of the centre. The 19th-century stone porch has a stone-coped gable and a large finial on top, with a tile roof.

Inside, the cottage features mid-chamfered ceiling beams. The room on the right side of the ground floor has an open fireplace with stone jambs and a chamfered wooden lintel above it. There are flagstones at the rear, and a six-light stone mullion window is located at the back. An early 19th-century small cooking range is also present, along with a continuous integral 17th-century outshut at the rear.
