Description
The Parade is a terrace of 18 houses built in the early 19th century. The houses are constructed of stucco on masonry, with No.10 rendered and No.9 retaining an original roof of grouted scantle slates. No.7 has a dry Delabole slate roof with a roof dormer, a feature also present on No.5. The remaining houses have asbestos slate roofs, with Nos 11-15 having steeper slopes, and No.10 having two roof dormers. Deep eaves are supported by moulded wooden brackets, and most houses have cast-iron ogee gutters. The houses were designed with double-depth plans. They are two stories high and largely uniform in appearance. Nos 12-15 have two-window fronts, while the others have three. All have round-arched doorways with spoked fanlights, except Nos 12-15. Original hornless sash windows with glazing bars are present throughout, except at No.3, which has later four-pane, horned sashes. Margin panes are found in the ground-floor sashes, and all window openings are within moulded stucco architraves, except Nos 13 & 15, which have long and short work and keyblocks. Original panelled doors are present, with the exception of No.14. Nos 1 & 2 have ornate cast-iron verandahs from the 19th century; Nos 6 & 7 have late 19th-century wooden verandahs, each with five bays of elliptical arches; and Nos 8-10 have 20th-century verandahs. The interiors are said to retain many original features.
