Outbuilding Adjoining Truthall

The outbuilding adjoining Truthall is a Grade II listed structure, likely dating from the early 19th century. It incorporates a reused 17th-century doorway and may be situated on the site of an ancient building, possibly including ancient walls. The building is constructed from granite rubble with some dressed granite and features a hipped corrugated asbestos roof. It has a long rectangular plan with three narrow doorways and one blocked doorway on the west side facing the farmyard. The right-hand corner of this side connects to the higher end corner of the hall of Truthall. The blocked doorway, located approximately 3 meters from this corner, has 17th-century chamfered jambstones inside, which may have been resited. This doorway could have originally been part of a courtyard wall that enclosed an area in front of Truthall, indicating that this wall of the building is at least partly from the 17th century. While simple in design, the outbuilding's relationship with Truthall is significant.
