Description
The well and stile at Trannack Farmhouse, located at the coordinates SW 660301, is a Grade II listed structure. This well features a nearby trough and a stile, all integrated into a traditional Cornish hedge. The well chamber is D-shaped, constructed with granite rubble walls and topped with granite lintels. Positioned approximately 2 meters to the right (west) of the well is a cantilevered granite stile made from monolithic granite stones set into the hedge.
The well house includes three partly dressed stones that frame a small doorway facing north towards Trannack Farmhouse. The jambs of the doorway have holes drilled into them, likely intended for hanging and securing a door. Between the well house and the stile, there is an old granite trough resting on former staddle stones. Farm well houses are uncommon in Cornwall, making this well-preserved example particularly significant.
