Description
No. 2 Broad Street is a shop with offices, built around the 1870s. It features polychrome dressed stone that is brought to course with granite and contrasting stone dressings. The roof is made of dry Delabole slate and has a hipped shape with a bracketed eaves cornice. There is a brick stack that also has a similar cornice and original square pots. The building has a double-depth corner-site plan with a splayed corner and stands three storeys high, with a three-window range on both the Broad Street and Church elevations.
The original windows are 8-pane horned sashes that are set back within two-storey panels, which have rock-faced detail on the aprons and first-floor lintels. Each floor of the splayed corner has a blind panel. There are doorways with panelled doors and overlights located in the left-hand bay and in the right-hand bay of the right-hand return into Church Street. The shop windows are large with moulded jambs, featuring one window facing Broad Street and two windows on the return. The interior has not been inspected.
