Description

Draynes House is a house dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of slatestone and granite rubble with brick dressings, and some parts are slate-hung. The roof is slate, with a crested ridge tile and deep eaves, and brick chimney stacks are located on the sides of the building. The house has a double depth plan, with a central entrance and a straight stair within the passage. The original layout included two principal rooms facing the garden at the rear.

The front of the house is symmetrical, with two windows on each floor. The windows are 16-pane sashes with cambered brick heads. A central four-panelled door has a glazed circle above it, also with a cambered brick head. The right-hand side of the building is blind, while the left-hand side features a 20th-century 16-pane sash window on the ground floor. The rear of the house has a slate-hung upper level, and a 20th-century French window on the ground floor to the left, a four-pane sash window to the right, and a door set off-centre to the right. The first floor at the rear has two 16-pane sashes in the centre and four-pane sashes to the left and right. The interior has not been inspected.
