Torr Park Farmhouse With Attached Front Garden Wall And Outhouse With Shippon

Torr Park Farmhouse is a circa early 19th century farmhouse, accompanied by an attached front garden wall and an outhouse incorporating a shippon. It is constructed of slatestone rubble with stone dressings, partially slate-hung, and has a 2-span rag slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. The front range features gable end stacks with slate weathering.

The farmhouse has a double-depth plan with a central entrance and principal rooms to the right and left at the front, originally a kitchen and parlour. A shallower rear range accommodates unheated service rooms. A single-story outhouse from the 19th century is attached to the rear left, alongside a 19th-century shippon addition. The attached wall encloses a small front garden.

The two-story, symmetrical front facade has a three-window arrangement. The ground floor features a central porch with a hipped roof, a plank door to the left, and a small 20th-century casement window to the front. All windows are early 20th century replacements within original openings. Ground floor windows include a 2-light 2-pane casement to the left and a 2-light single-pane casement to the right, both with cambered stone arches. First floor windows comprise three 2-light 2-pane casements. The right end is slate-hung with rag slates, while the left end features the shippon, which is a single-story structure with a loft above; the gable end is open, with a central granite pier, a bay to the left, and weather boarded upper parts, including a central plank door and an asbestos slate roof.

At the rear, ground and first floor windows to the left and right are 2-light 2-pane and 2-light single-pane casements respectively, all early 20th century, with flat stone arches. A central plank door has a cambered stone arch and a pitched slate hood. Attached to the right rear is an unheated outhouse with a 20th-century 2-light single-pane casement and a stable-type plank door, and a hipped end roof.

The front garden wall is constructed of slatestone rubble with a quartz rubble capping, featuring plain piers and a 20th-century wooden gate. The wall encloses a garden approximately 15 metres wide and 3 metres deep. The interior was not inspected.
