Description
This is a farmhouse, likely dating to around 1800, with later 19th-century alterations and additions, and some more recent modifications. The exterior is of rendered stone rubble with slate roofs, ridge tiles, and gable ends. Chimneys have rendered shafts, with one brick shaft visible on a hip-roofed addition.
The farmhouse has a double-depth plan. The main, central front range has a large drawing room at the centre, an entrance hall to the left, and a stair hall to the rear left. To the right is a range set at a right angle, with a hipped slate roof and a stack to the outer side. This wing contains a parlour at the front and a small, unheated room to the rear, likely a dairy. A two-storey integral outshut at the rear houses shallow service rooms, with a stack on the right side providing heating.
The front of the main range is symmetrical with three storeys and three windows. Deep, late 19th-century mullion and transom casements are found on the ground and first floors, with wrought iron balconettes beneath each first-floor window. The second floor has three two-light, two-pane casements. A band course runs at first-floor cill level, extended around the entrance block to the left and the parlour range to the right. The lower two-storey entrance block to the left has panelled doors with a fanlight featuring decorative wrought iron radial glazing bars. Above the doors is a two-light, two-pane casement. The lower two-storey parlour range to the right has a mullion and transom window on the ground floor and a two-light, two-pane casement above.
The left side of the main range has the band course continuing halfway down, with a cellar door to the right. A tall five-pane stair light is located on the left. Attached to the left is a one-storey and attic outshut with a large chimney featuring a shaped top. The rear of the outshut has a door, a single casement to the left, and a two-light casement to the right. The right side of the parlour range features a 12-pane sash window at first floor to the left, two casements to the right, and a single light at ground floor. The rear of the parlour range has two single casements at ground floor. The rear of the main range includes the two-storey integral service outshut, which forms a catslide roof with the main range. Ground floor windows include a 24-pane sash with sidelights and a door with a slate hood to the right. At first floor, there are two three-light casements.
The interior was not fully inspected but may contain notable early 19th-century features. The front drawing room has a marble fireplace on the left end, including an Adam-style frieze with a central cartouche and a moulded mantel. A plain cornice is also present.
