Description
The granary, located within the kitchen garden walls at Trelowarren, is likely from the early 19th century. It features timber-framed and rendered walls supported by twelve granite staddle stones. The roof is hipped with scantle slate, has a coved eaves cornice, and is topped with clay ridge tiles. The structure is rectangular in shape, resting on four by three staddle stones. There is a doorway at one end and a window at the other, with the walls otherwise unpierced. The staddle stones are tall and tapered, each topped with a dome-headed capstone. It has a ledged door and a small paned window. The interior has not been inspected. Granaries are uncommon in this part of Cornwall, and this example is very complete, although it may have originally included some louvered openings.
