Description

The Bryant monument is an early 19th-century chest tomb located about 5 metres south of Gunwen Methodist Church in Luxulyan. It is made of granite and features a slate inscription plate. The massive granite lid is heavily moulded, creating a cornice above the plain rectangular chest. On top of the lid, there is a slate plate with incised cherubs with wings on either side and trumpeting angels at the bottom. The inscription is in scrolled lettering and commemorates Ebenezer William Bryant, who died in 1808.
