Description

Belmont is a house dated 1797, with alterations and additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of stone rubble with stone dressings, while the right end is rendered. The roof is covered with bitumenised slate and asbestos slate, featuring ridge tiles and gable ends. There are gable end stacks with brick shafts and an additional stack at the rear right, also with a brick shaft.

The house has a double depth plan with a central entrance. The principal rooms, which are of equal size, are located at the front right and left, each heated by a gable end stack. The kitchen is situated at the rear right and is heated from a stack on the right side, while there is an unheated service room at the rear left. A 20th-century addition is present at the rear right, and the house is built over a cellar at the rear.

The exterior is two storeys high and features a symmetrical three-window front. All windows are 19th-century 16-pane sashes with flat stone arches and keystones. The first-floor arches continue as an eaves band course, with a datestone featuring raised carved numerals reading 1797 to the left. The central entrance has a 20th-century half-glazed door with a cambered stone arch. The right end includes a 20th-century door and a 20th-century window on the first floor, while the left end has a 20th-century window on the ground floor to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
