Description

Laurels is a house dating from around the middle of the 19th century, with minimal later changes. The house is constructed from slatestone rubble with granite quoins. It has a scantle slate roof covered in slurried slate, with ridge tiles and gable ends. Brick chimney shafts rise from gable stacks. The plan is based on a two-room layout, with a central entrance hall, each room being of equal size and served by a gable-end stack for heating. The exterior is symmetrical with a three-window front. The first floor has a central 16-pane sash window, alongside 20-pane sash windows to the right and left, all with timber lintels. The ground floor features a 20th-century porch with a hipped roof, sheltering an original 19th-century four-panelled door with glazing. Either side of the porch are 20-pane sash windows. The interior was not inspected.
